if grace is an ocean we’re all sinking...
God met with me so powerfully during this song. I don't think I’ve been the same since that encounter several months back. It was written by John Mark McMillan after his best friend was tragically killed. The song is long, no doubt, but the end will break your heart. But in a good way, because He loves us. Oh how He loves us.
How He Loves
by John Mark McMillan
He is jealous for me
Loves like a hurricane
I am a tree
Bending beneath
The weight of his wind and mercy
When all of a sudden
I am unaware of these
Afflictions eclipsed by glory
And I realize just how beautiful you are
And how great your affections are for me
Oh how he loves us so
Oh how he loves us
How he loves us so
Yea he loves us
Oh how he loves us
We are his portion
And he is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in his eyes
If grace is an ocean we’re all sinking
So heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss
And my heart burns violently inside of my chest
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets
When I think about the way
He loves us
Oh how he loves us so
Oh how he loves us
How he loves us so
Yea he loves us
Oh how he loves us
I thought about you
The day Stephen died
And you met me between my breaking
I know that I still love you God
Despite the agony
See people they want to tell me you’re cruel
But if Stephen could sing
He’d say its not true
Cause you’re good

Wow. No words except thank you for sharing that.
this brings me to tears every time. so beautiful, the song and the fact that god longs for us to know his love.
grace being an ocean makes no sense, sinking is not good.
however if grace were (merely) a notion we'd all be sunk
I love this song..it gives me chills whenever I hear it, but I've never heard the last part before about his friend.
Thanks for sharing,
